Episode 7: Gossamers, Copy Writing for Mental Health and Guest Allie Linn

Licensed professional counselors Johanna Dwinells and Sarah Bryski-Hamrick are slowly demystifying and destigmatizing therapy, one episode at a time. Recording and living in the Philadelphia area, Johanna and Sarah work to make therapy feel more accessible, with quirky, sometimes intrusive questions that reveal the human side of healthcare professionals, all while they overcome their own anxieties and internalized stigmas.

TW: None.

Episode summary: Johanna discusses comfortable fashion, Sarah talks Gilligan’s Island and Britney Spears. They read about the history of advertising/copywriting, how it developed into modern day copywriting, and the use of SEO and specific writing used to bring clients and therapists together. Copywriter for therapists, Allie Linn, discusses her transition from working as dance/movement therapist to becoming a copywriter for therapists.

Guest Bio: Allie Linn is a former dance/movement therapist who now works as a copywriter for mental health professionals. When she was practicing therapy she worked mostly in inpatient psychiatric hospitals. That environment burned her out to the point that her physical and mental health suffered and the only work she did for nearly 2 years was walking dogs part-time. In March 2020, at the very beginning of the pandemic, she started a copywriting business and feels like she finally found her calling. She loves working with therapists and staying connected to the field of therapy, helping to destigmatize mental health through her writing. When not working she can be found going on adventures with her husband, cuddling with her terrier, and practicing yoga.
